The general status of Minecraft servers is such that lingering around a particular server for any length of time doesn't happen. Players join on advertising days, play for a few hours and maybe leave. During this time these players are subject to the onslaught of greifers or spammers if the server admins are not proactive. In general MC is this awesome game that is made so much better by playing with others; which is then ruined usually by poorly run communities.

When you mix Minecraft and free time for a guy in college, usually his grades will suffer. Fortunately for me, my grades are fine and I still play a lot of Minecraft.
